The Migraine Bomb

I was so excited to read how a woman suffering from a migraine (and ready to head to the ER for the pain) found something natural that worked amazingly fast! I found her testimonial on one of my Facebook pages and she said I was welcome to share it here. What a praise the Lord!

“I was at my wits end yesterday. I had been suffering from a migraine for 7 days and I had been in bed with it. I had to get out yesterday for an appointment, and while out I texted a friend to see if she had the oils for the bomb. She did and told me to come by. I took one bomb when I got home, and within 15 minutes my migraine was gone! This was something that my regular migraine medicine would not touch. I am beyond thrilled! Thank you God for these wonderful oils! I am learning so much! I just wish I would have thought of it before suffering for a week. I am LOVING learning about these oils!!!!!” – Amy Morgan

    Dear Stacy,

This turned out to be much longer than I anticipated, and truly I didn’t write it to hurt or upset you… If you don’t want to post it, that’s fine (in fact, I’d rather you didn’t; I’d actually prefer a private conversation), but I don’t know how to e-mail you privately or I would do it that way (because I’d like to know if you have any suggestions).

I accidentally came across this post just now. I have suffered from migraines for over 50 years (from age 7 or 8). It’s gotten worse over the years; they have been the totally debilitating type, where I’ve been in pain more than 2-3 weeks a month. I know most of my “triggers” but many of them are truly unavoidable: like the scents from the neighbors’ dryers when they are drying their laundry that was washed in scented detergents and using fabric softener sheets. It is usually so strong that I must shut my windows because the “fresh” air has been scented and it always triggers a migraine.

Many of the scented flowers and plants that God created trigger migraines if I’m exposed to them, especially the most highly scented ones, such as eucalyptus, camellias, and lilies. I can’t even tolerate lavender scented baby powder (or cinnamon or cloves except in very tiny amounts).

Going to church, Bible studies, the doctor/dentist, or even shopping (at any store, including the grocery store) usually results in me coming home with a migraine. [I do have other triggers, such as smoke or various foods (anything with caffeine ~ chocolate is one of the worst, as are peanuts, vinegar... it's a long list).]

Anyway, even the thought of having to smell any essential oils worries me… just because they might be “natural” is not going to make any difference since I can’t even have flowers in my garden any more.

I guess the reason I’m writing is because I don’t think most people realize what the use of even pure essential oil scents do to some people… I’m not the only person who has such problems… there are at least 3 that I’ve met right in my church (where we’ve been attending for 33 years), not to mention several who I’ve come across over the last few years.

Have you ever known anyone who has such sensitivity to scents? I can’t even go to most of my friends’ homes any more because of the scents in the products they use. I’m at a loss as to what to do. My life is becoming so circumscribed in order to try to avoid triggering migraines… and as I mentioned above, even my own home isn’t safe because of the neighbors use of scented products. I clean my bathrooms and kitchen with Isopropyl alcohol because I can’t use “normal” [scented] cleaning products!

I’m sorry, I really shouldn’t be bothering you with my problem; but I did want to let you know that there are a few of us out here that would have trouble being near anything that is scented, even faintly. I know from experience that most people won’t be willing to give up their “scents” to help those relatively few of us who are actually hurt by the scents.

In closing I’d like to say that, although this may be one of the crosses I have to bear in this life, I’m actually looking forward to heaven where I’m sure I’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful scents of plants and flowers again. :-)

As I’ve learned to say from Ann Voskamp ~
    All’s grace, Kay

      Hi Kay,

Wow! That must be so difficult! As with a lot of people I know, I have gotten a headache from synthetic scents. My daughter is very, very sensitive to such things. But I have never, ever heard of flowers in a garden triggering someone’s headaches. I have to wonder if there is something more serious going on. Have you seen a doctor about this? I have heard of some people being so loaded with toxins that, when they try to use certain oils, it triggers a detox effect, which could definitely cause a headache.

Perhaps a good liver cleanse or detox protocol would be helpful for you. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could get past this? Praying for you, sister.

My daughter has migraines, she tried your migraine bomb and it worked for about six hours. How often can she take these?
    Thanks
