Make Your Own Spray Deodorant

Since making my DIY all-natural deodorant stick, I’ve been asked on numerous occasions to come up with a recipe for those who prefer sprays. Though our deodorant stick worked great and came out beautifully, it was definitely somewhat time-consuming. Not because of the preparations, but because of the clean up. Have I ever told you how much I hate cleaning beeswax off of a food processor?

Also, some people have trouble with baking soda-based deodorants, so I thought it would be good for people to have a choice. Plus, if I can avoid cleaning beeswax off my food processor, I’m pretty happy.

deodorant with powderThis recipe came out great and took me only about three minutes to make (and no clean up!). And, just in case you take issue with spraying a liquid under your arms (a place most people try to keep dry), we made a follow-up essential oil-infused dusting powder for absorbing moisture (though if you’re patient and “flap your wings” a few times, the liquid dries quickly!).

Just use the same oil blend in your dusting powder that you choose for your deodorant. There are plenty of natural base-ingredients you can use; I chose the arrowroot option from my Dusting Powder recipe HERE. I apply my dusting powder with a fluffy retractable powder brush like the one featured in the photo to the right.

These blends incorporate oils known for their antibacterial properties and they smell wonderful! I also like the fact that I’ve read several intriguing articles about studies being done on frankincense and cancer! What a good place to put frankincense! And these cute little bottles are small enough to throw in your purse for any “spruce ups” you feel the need for during the day.

Plus, for the month of November, Young Living is giving away a FREE bottle of both Frankincense and Sacred Frankincense (a retail value of $93.75) to those spending 190 PV (approximately $190.00) on their order. Check out the details HERE. And, if you place the order through Essential Rewards, you’ll earn up to 20% back in points for free oils AND enjoy discounted shipping!

Use one of the following blends in the above recipe, as well as in your DIY dusting powder!

Mediterranean Nights

  • 14 frankincense
  • 7 bergamot

Rainforest Dream

  • 10 drops orange
  • 7 vetiver
  • 3 drops frankincense

WARNING- you might also want to spray some on your wrists because otherwise, this stuff smells so good, you might be tempted to walk around sniffing under your arms all day! LOL I love this stuff! And the dusting powder is the perfect finishing touch! I think I’ll get a decorative jar to keep it in.

I noticed a mistake on the number of drops in the recipes, but they are fixed now.

What IS a drop of glycerin? Mine comes in a large bottle. Do you mean an eyedropper? Excited to try these and love the name ‘rainforest dream’ w the vetiver :)
