Dreamy Bath Recipes

March 17, 2013

This is one of the easiest and useful homemade essential oil recipes you can make. Your kids will have a blast helping out with these! Use the recipes below to sooth sore muscles, to add magnesium to your system, for a fun and unique gift-giving idea, to help relieve the pain and itching of poison ivy or chicken pox, to nourish dry skin, or for relaxation!

And don’t forget to get creative. Hobby Lobby and other craft stores and online sources offer a variety of glass jars, wooden spoons, and fun bottles and containers for displaying your concoction. Or, for a cheaper option, you could place your salts in a sealed plastic baggie inside of an organza draw-string bag. Papermart sells organza bags in numerous colors and sizes in bulk.

Gentle Baby Bath Dream

1 C. Dry Buttermilk
1/4 C. Epsom Salts or Dead Sea Salts
20 Drops Gentle Baby Blend

Dragon Skin Bath Soak (Not only good for the skin, but it smells heavenly!)

1 C. Almond Oil
Vitamin E (squirt one gel cap into almond oil)
20 Drops Sandalwood Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil
5 Drops Ylang Ylang
5 Drops Geranium

[My favorite way to use this bath oil is to rub it all over my body before getting into a hot bath!]

Soothing Poison Ivy Bath Soak (Good for the Chicken Pox too!)

9 Drops lavender essential oil
6 Drops peppermint essential oil
6 Drops lemon essential oil
3 Drops geranium essential oil
3 Drops chamomile essential oil
4 cups finely ground quick-cooking oats (or Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment)
1 cup Epsom salts

Place all ingredients in a zip lock bag and seal. Mash together until oils are completely worked into salt mixture (this is a good job for children!). Some people like to use a few drops of food coloring, but I like to leave it natural looking. Place in a sealed container to enjoy whenever you need a nice dreamy soak!

    Stacy,
Is there a list of what oils make up the peace and calming blend? I’m sure they are all non-allergenic ingredients, right?
    Blessings,
    Lisa
