When People Gossip about You…

He said that you said that I said that he was a liar
But what he said that you said that I said, it just isn’t so!
Can’t you see – that the tongue can destroy like a fire
When we whisper and spread around gossip wherever we go?

“I Know the Rules!”

And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8)

Why is it so much easier to see sin in other people? I mean really. A child can trip over his own feet running to tell you about the infraction of another child; but, that same child will stand amazed that …

Gossip, Slander, and the Power of the Tongue

Music by Judy Rogers. Visit her HERE

Technology certainly hasn’t invented a new sin (Ecclesiastes 1:9), but as the Internet has grown and advanced, it has increased our ability to involve others in our sin—and at a faster rate. Rather than gossip with just one neighbor at a time, we can now multiply our efforts via Facebook, Twitter, or any other number of social media.

Sometimes the “tasty morsels” are actually true (Matthew 5:13; Proverbs 26:22). Yet, …

Seven Awful Things

I love this Judy Rogers song! I’m desperately hunting the school room for our copy of “Go to the Ant.” My older children LOVED these songs when they were young, and I’m realizing my younger ones are missing out! Check out Judy’s website for wonderful songs for your children that will help hide the Word and His ways in their hearts!

When Reviled…

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven… (Matthew 5:11-12)
Have you ever been lied about or hated because you did the right thing or because you stood up for the truth? Scripture says you should rejoice …

Truth Hunt or Witch Hunt?

Recently, I posted an interesting article by Richard Abanes, Don’t Believe Everything You Read, where he discussed the relatively new problem of bloggers “who, under the guise of discernment/apologetics (i.e., Online Discernment Ministries), attack other Christians… ” I know from first hand experience that this is a real issue; however, shouldn’t Christians be warned of false teachers? Shouldn’t we defend the purity of the Gospel?

In his second article, Another Apologist Speaks Out, Mr. Abanes clarified the important point …

Evil as Entertainment

Another good article…

We are to focus much more on what is good than what is evil. This is one of the lessons I sought to teach in The Discipline of Spiritual Discernment. “Our efforts in discernment should revolve around knowing the truth so that we might see the evil in contrast to what is true. The reason it is better to focus on what is true is simple: error is constantly changing, shifting and morphing into new forms, …

Don’t Believe Everything You Read…

Don’t Believe Everything You Read

By Richard Abanes

We live in an era of too much information; an era wherein anyone/everyone can post whatever they want to post on the Internet—unchecked, unverified, unaccountable, unhindered, and unstoppable. Rumors, gossip, baseless accusations, outright lies, fear-mongering, hate rhetoric, hoaxes, slander/libel, and false information now litter the Internet.

So today’s word of advise from …

"We’re Not Gossiping. We’re Networking."

Along with the growth of the Internet, the potential for sin has grown. Rather than gossiping with just one neighbor at a time, now the blogging housewife can count the hits on her site meter as she multiplies her possibilities.

Gossip and slander are nothing new. Technology hasn’t invented a new sin (Ecclesiastes 1:9). However, as we improve our ability to communicate with numerous …

Bearing False Witness

Q. 145 – What are the sins forbidden in the ninth commandment?

A. The sins forbidden in the ninth commandment are, all prejudicing the truth, and the good name of our neighbours, as well as our own, (1 Sam. 17:28, 2 Sam. 16:3, 2 Sam. 1:9,10,15–16) especially in public judicature; (Lev. 19:15, Hab. 1:4) giving false …
