I went to Victoria's website and apparently she is now a Christian. In fact, at the end of her Fox News interview, she says, "This is what our country needs – the Bible!" And she whips out her Bible before anyone can stop her! :-)

Here is the link. Yes, I could do without the ditzy blonde routine, but I suppose it's part of her act, and her way of drawing her fans in to speak the truth to them.

    Interesting…

Haha LOVE this! :D I love common sense. How do you attach videos to blog posts?

  3. Orenczaks says:

Oh my! That is great. Victoria is certainly a hoot.

  4. Ginger says:

She really shouldn't sing. BUT this is awesome!! Love it!

  5. Pamela says:

That was great! At least she is speaking out good for her. I saw her on fox with her Bible I am so proud of her that was just great.

  6. Kim M. says:

    hilarious!

  7. Jennifer K says:

Ah, yes, a no-talent has-been trying to remain relevant

  8. Marisa A says:

    I agree!

  9. Georgia says:

Victoria was great. I agree with her 100%. I feel that the biblical conservatives have a penchant for directing the social lives of people. Many conservatives say this country needs the bible.

But economically are you really for free enterprise? Does that matter to you?

I believe it is spiritual, moral, and intellectual controls that Christian conservatives want. I don't know how they plan to do it. Probably some serious censorship over literature and film to start.

I believe in freedom. I believe the Constitution should be amended with a clause which states that neither the federal nor any state government shall make any activity that does not violate, through force or fraud, a persons right to life, liberty or property, a crime.

Christians proclaim to be capitalists but I have serious doubts.

    Loved this. :)

  11. mommyjordanrf says:

I have to disagree, I am an economics major and by no means is President Obama close to socialism. That's what we do in this country. We call democrats socialists and republicans fascists.

I get worked up when I see Christians promoting the republican party. I don't see anything Christian about the republican party, nor do I find scripture that supports them. But yet in this country they are twisting scripture to fit their idealogue. There have been books written by key republicans stating that the republican party uses Christians just for votes.

Neither party is God ordained. Stick to the Bible and away from the republican party propaganda built mostly on lies and fear.

  12. Terry @ Breathing Grace says:

Who said anything about the GOP? While I thought the video was simplistic, I didn't hear her or anyone here promoting the Republican party.

If I had to venture a guess, I'd say plenty of Stacy's readers probably voted for the Constitution party candidate.

Not everyone who is opposed to the current commander-in-chief is touting the Republican party line.

Just thought that was a relevant point based on one of the comments.

  13. Jessica, Brittney, Kristina says:

While I do think that this clip has validity and could be a wake up call to some, I don't believe that this is the way Christians are called to speak out. 1 Timothy 2 says this, "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

Our first desire for our president, should be that he will be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. I do not agree with his governing tactics, nor do I believe him to be a strong supporter of the constitution that has made this nation great. But the one thing I am called to do above all, no matter what I think of him, is pray for him and even give thanks for him.

Romans 13:1 says, "Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God." President Obama wasn't accidentally placed into power. God is omniscient and omnipotent. The LORD our God is in control. Praying for President Obama is the most powerful thing we can do.

  14. Jennifer says:

Jessica, there's a time to pray in support for a leader and a time to speak up. The time for the latter is NOW. The money, jobs, security, moral system, and even sometimes lives of our people (infants) are ate stake.

  15. The Abundant Heart says:

    Jennifer,
I agree with you completely. I just believe we should be cautious of our approach (how we speak up). As Christians we should speak up in truth, not with sarcasm.

  16. Kara says:

I'm inclined to agree with Jessica. I dislike the man. I dont like what he is doing to our government, our economy, his government take-overs of everything, and especially his support of murdering our children. But! He is the leader of our country. A leader that GOD put in power.

Daniel 2:21 "And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding."

    Romans 13:1-7
"Let every soul to subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefor to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor."

If you want evil, oppressive governments, both the Babylonian and Roman empires count. Yet we are told to submit to them.

We live in a country where we can criticize our leader. But what is complaining going to do? God gave us a government where we can write our senators and congressmen and tell them what we think. Even if they dont make the right decisions, we still need to remember, God put them in their positions.

We, as Christians, are to pray for our leaders. Even the ones we dont like. The best change we could ever see in the White House is if the president was saved. And even then, the president needs our prayers for wisdom as well.

  17. Jennifer says:

Thank you, Abundant. I understand your position.

" For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil"

You're not seriously referring to Obama here, are you? It's very possible God gave him authority simply to let the American people know how foolish they were to select him. He rewards the foolish in full.

"If you want evil, oppressive governments, both the Babylonian and Roman empires count"

Um, not anymore. God overthrew both of them, remember? There's a limit to how much tyranny we tolerate. And my God, our babies?? That's NON-negotiable.

  18. Kara says:

Yes, the Babylonian empire was over thrown, and the Roman empire crumbled. But that was not the point at all. The point was, in the midst of the evil, God said to submit to the governments.
"You're not seriously referring to Obama here, are you?"
No, I didnt say it. I was quoting Romans 13:1-7 where Paul said that referring to Cesar Nero who was using live Christians as torches in his garden, and was dressing them in animal skins and had his hunting dogs tear them apart.
And you hardly need to yell at me about abortion. Im an advocate for not only making it illegal, but the punishment for getting an illegal abortion to be the same as for pre-meditated murder.
But none for that changes that the bible says we are to submit to and pray for the governing authorities.
I will take correction, but only if it comes from scripture. I dont want the opinions and feelings of fallible man. I want to know what God said.

  19. Stacy McDonald says:

    Kara,

Humor is often used to get a point across. I don't think Victori's parody was rude, crude, or harmful in any way. If it had been distasteful or disrespectful, I wouldn't have posted it. Humor is often an effective tool to challenge people to think, which the American people have not been doing a good job of lately.

Obama may not be a blatant communist. But based on what he has shown us, he is a socialist, and he has certainly shown hints of communist sympathies. The man even had a picture of Mao Zedong on his Christmas tree! Can you imagine such an image in the White House!!!!!???

"Critics of President Obama are setting their sights this week on the official White House Christmas tree, which features controversial ornaments including an orb depicting the late Chinese dictator, another that shows drag queen Hedda Lettuce, and yet another that shows a picture of Mount Rushmore — with Obama's head pasted to the side of Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt's."

There is a difference between disobeying the law imposed by a leader and challenging people to THINK, so that ungodly leaders are put out of office. Nobody is suggesting that anyone should disobey the law (unless the law clearly compels us to disobey Scripture (murder etc.). That is what the Scriptures you pointed out were referring to.

If Hitler was in power, would you rebuke those who said, "Hello! We have a crazy man in office! Let's do something about it!"

  20. Jennifer says:

Thank you for your clarifications, Stacy.

  21. Kara says:

Hitler was put in power by God. As was Nero, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Kim Jong II and Obama. I would say that Hitler's actions were wrong. (i think Obama is wrong as well…I think his government take-over of everything is wrong. I think his support of murdering children is wrong.
) But I would still pray for him. I would pray for his salvation, I would pray that God would give him the wisdom to run his country rightly.

I heard about the reverencing of Mao. And our leaderships reverence of Mao shows that they do not know history. This is precisely why they need prayer. If God sees fit to give them wisdom, or even better to save them, then this wouldnt be an issue.

I dont disagree with what the video said. I just dont think it is what a Christian should be doing. Making fun of people typically puts people on the defensive, not changing their actions. As Americans, we have ways to let our opinions be heard without making fun of our leaders. We can campaign for our cause to other people trying to get them to vote for or against. We can write/call/email our congressmen and senators. And we can pray for them, and I will still maintain that praying for them is the most important and powerful thing that we can do.
    1 Timothy 2:1-2
"Therefore I exhort first of all that supplication, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence."

Reading my posts over, I realized I never actually said what I originally was trying to get at. I kinda nodded at it completely forgetting that you cant read my mind. I am very sorry about this. I posted the full passage in Romans on government because I wanted to have the context there. But I never told anyone that I was focusing on "For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God." Romans 13:1b God is sovereign, and He put Obama in power. For what reason? I have no clue. But, "Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves." Romans 13:2 I will honor him because in doing so, that honors God.

  22. Stacy McDonald says:

Of course we should pray for Obama. In fact, I have a 9 year old who faithfully prays for him every single night at family worship. We have never said this isn't something we should do.

I think what we disagree on is whether or not what Victoria did was disrespectful. Personally, I don't find all political humor to be disrespectful. But some definitely is. I do believe there is a line that can be crossed, but I don't think she crossed it.

And nobody condoned "resisting authority" (breaking the law). Lawlessness is not God's way; He is a God of order. However, if there was never a time to actively speak out against unjust rulers, we wouldn't be Americans.

Pray for Obama: yes. Respect his God-given authority: yes. Obey the law of the land: yes.

Promote fatalism: no. Obama is in office because God put him there, whether he knows it or not. It is part of God's plan. But it is not to bless America – it is to curse it. We got Obama because it's what we deserved. Now we must repent, pray for God's mercy, and actively do the right thing.

I would greatly appreciate it if we could stick to the topic at hand, Mrs. Webfoot; there are plenty of other threads on this blog where feminism is duscussed. I'm an egalitarian, as you know, and I strongly disagree with Mary Kassian and don't resemble a Marxist at all. Please remember this when you criticize egalitarians; we are not feminists.

  24. Jennifer says:

*discussed* Ach! If you do forget editing sometimes Mrs. Webfoot, you're not the only one :/

  25. Kara says:

I fully believe in standing up for what is right. I know i stated that at least once. We can write out senators, and congressmen, campaign for what we believe in. However, I do not think that we, as Christians, should be making fun of our government officials. Even if we do think (know) they are wrong.

  26. Jennifer says:

Yes, I know we're both free; I just think there's a time and a place for certain subjects. Based on my research, I found Kassian's arguments quite refutable.

  27. Brit says:

You know Mrs Webfoot, I'm starting to think you don't like feminism ;P

It's not really about what we're *free* to say. If I came here and said I saw a close connection between complimentarians and fascists, a lot of people here would get their feelings hurt. If I further stated that I'm free to say whatever I want, it would be like a slap in the face to you, wouldn't it?

  28. Brit says:

Someone might say that certain complimentarians and fascists both believe in hoarding power, Mrs. Webfoot; it would be a matter of similarity in heart, not politics. I wouldn't say something like that here because it would offend some people, just as the accusations you mentioned would, whether true or not in some cases. In short: I'd try to be polite and considerate. Not to mention sensible, since the majority of complimentarians don't resemble fascists anymore than egalitarians resemble secular controlling Marxists. I *accuse* you of nothing. God bless!

  29. Stacy McDonald says:

Since this post has nothing at all to do with feminism or egalitarianism, I'm asking that the comments in that area cease. Thanks.

  30. Jennifer says:

I haven't watched this vid yet, but I'm sure another strongly-spoken Christian is just what this country needs. Even some Democrats are speaking up about the way things are going (both David Letterman and Michael Moore have expressed discontent). Still praying for the non-Christians in the liberal crowd.

  31. Stacy McDonald says:

    Hi Donna,

I didn't think you were impolite. And, as you know, I happen to agree with you in most areas. I just didn't see how the conversation was especially pertinent to the video. Sometimes the back and forth just continues (I've been involved in plenty of these conversations)and both parties talk past one another. That seemed to be what was happening here and it didn't appear to be productive.

So, since I had a headache, and happened to be doing bills, calling a cease fire seemed like a good idea. :-)

  32. Jennifer says:

That's fine Stacy, and I really couldn't be more grateful that you called for a cease fire. It's useful in addictive topics, especially ones where people can become hurtful and not realize it. Thanks.

  33. Brit says:

Hi, Stacy. Just so you know Mrs. Webfoot, I'm a woman :) All I see in Reverend Wrong's teachings is promotion of racism, like the KKK, not liberation theories. I'm sorry you didn't understand what I was trying to say. If you have anything further to say, I'll come to your blog.

  34. Jennifer says:

You were doing bills, Stacy? :S My brain can't absorb that sort of thing.
