December 24, 1968
Apollo 8, the first manned mission to the Moon, entered lunar orbit on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1968. That evening, the astronauts shared on live television (from lunar orbit) pictures of the Earth and Moon seen from Apollo 8.
In a recent sermon, my husband, James, referred to this event and described how it impacted him when he saw it on television as a boy, many years ago.
Command Module Pilot, Lovell, said, “The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth.” The following recording captures the voices of the crew as they take turns reading from the book of Genesis.

OT, but a Christian lady I've known for a fair number of years, Kathy Walters, has had a MASSIVE HEART ATTACK, and I am passing this prayer request for her along the Chrisitan sites on the Internet.
They have done open heart surgery on her and placed 2 stints in her arteries, as one was blocked 100%. She had about 25% of her hearts capacity operating.
The next 24 hours are CRITICAL, but we know our God reigns!!
PRAY PRAY PRAY for Kathy.
We are praying, Cynthia. How old is she? Keep us updated.
This gives me chills! Would something like this ever happen today? Sadly, I don't think so. Praise God for his glorious creation. He is amazing!
I got chills all over as I heart those men declare what an awesome miracle God performed!
Wouldn't the mainstream media go crazy if this was somehow put out there on the TV???
Praise God for all His works are good and all He does is wonderful!!
Thank you for praying – she's in her late 40's or early fifties, I believe. I haven't heard anymore about her condition today, but even no news is good news. I will keep you all posted….
Thank you for sharing the moonlanding video. I am old enough to remember this, as I was a senior in h.s. in 1969. How moving that they read from the Bible. How terrifying to realize that several years later, the song "Age of Aquarius" was played instead of the Bible being read. That's when our space program went defunct, in my opinion.
This brought tears to my eyes. How far our nation has wandered from our mighty Creator. Thank you for posting the footage.
Grace and peace,
Viv
