Liberty Day 2009
“Posterity: you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.” – John Quincy Adams The Liberty Day Foundation was established by several families in northern Illinois with the purpose of stirring the hearts of Christians to consider the many facets of liberty; and to remember the principles, vision, faith, and sacrifices of those who have gone before and given us the unique country that we enjoy today. We are their posterity and must be careful not to waste their extreme efforts and must beseech heaven, and do our part, to preserve the legacy for our posterity. May God grant us the heart to do it, Amen!

My oldest son and I have both read David McCollough’s book John Adams. It is a terrific book, but it reallly made me mourn for our country in that we don’t seem to have men with the vision that our fore-fathers had in leadership postitions. My husband and I and three of our older children are now watching the John Adams series. There are a couple of spots that we have fast-forwarded through, but it is very compelling. The Adams’ family sacrificed a lot to see this country be born. What can we do to see it return to the foundations of its beginning? We can pray for a revival in the hearts of men and women and children across this country. We can share resources that tell of the great heritage of this nation and of the great men and women who gave much so that we might have much. Teach your children about these brave and mighty forefathers!
well, sadly we could never travel to participate in this event, but it certainly looks like it would be most fun! and worthwhile too. i’ll have to take a look at those books, they look interesting indeed?
The event looks like a wonderful day to remember. I hope everyone that attends has a good time. :)
I think as Americans we forget how good we have it here. We take for gratned these liberties and freedoms.
Yes we have to abide by certain laws, but they aren’t restricting, they are there to protect us and keep us safe.
I worry though that as Christians, our freedom is slowly being taken away, one piece at a time.
I know I won’t give up without a fight (spiritually) though if it continues to go downhill for us.
Sorry for the ramble, it just came to mind as I read your post is all.
May you and your family have a safe and blessed weekend!
Dawn in TX
Looks like fun! Maybe we can go next year. I’ve been so sick with this pregnancy that my family is happy to just have clean socks;) Anyway, traveling isn’t exactly an option for us.
I will look into the books though. That’s what my children are loving about mommy feeling so yucky, we’ve have been spending even more time on the couch reading together!
Whatever happened to the comments on the Passionate Housewives blog? They’ve disappeared, along with the comment option.
Stacy, in the past you recommended the dolls and books of the "Beautiful Girlhood" collection over American Girls. In all honesty, what is the writing style of those books like? Would it appeal to someone my age? I'm considering the book "Nothing can Separate Us" by Tracy M. Craven, and no matter how amazing the story is, I must know if the writing style would appeal to mature readers before I try it. Thanks
