See All Evil, Hear All Evil, Speak No Truth

In one segment, you’ll hear one woman’s shocking account of what happened in her son’s high school, Boyd County High School, in Kentucky. She was told by school officials that students would not be allowed to opt out of an ACLU sponsored, pro-homosexual video. In addition, the students would not be allowed to disagree with anything in the film.

The mother shares, “They said that once that child steps through that door, they belong to the school district. And I specifically asked them, I said, ‘You’re telling me that my child is no longer mine as long as he’s on school property.’ And they said, ‘That is correct.’”

Not shocking in that we are hearing it so often now, but shocking in that it is so wrong. I remember back when sex ed. was started here (Australia) and parents had the option to withdraw their child. People thought them strange, over protective, and children felt singled out. Now we hear that many, both christian and non christian, want their children out and some children really don’t want to hear the nonsense, but they no longer have any choice.
Home schooling by conviction but things like this only strengthen the resolve!

Stacy, I love your writings and your blog. The Lord has used you on many occasions to point me back to Him and His purposes for me.

I have dicusssed this topic with friends on several ocassions. We all agree…if you are going to hand your children over to the system, you have to be willing to submit to their rules, their value system, and so forth. They cannot, nor will they conform and supply a program to meet individual needs. They have a purpose and a plan for our children, and will do all they can to bring than plan to pass.

“Render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s.” Our children do not belong to the state. It’s time we take them back, and gain a vision for them that far exceeds that of the states. If we are unwilling to do that, then I supose we will be reaping what we have sown.

Do we have a right to “opt out” and speak against the evil? Of course. However, I just don’t think we should be trying to change this system. Simply because it’s roots and purpose are anti-Christ from the get go. This is so much deeper than a pro homosexual video. The foundation is rotten, the whole building rotten. It will never work, unless a new foundation, one that points to Christ and whose purpose is to produce godly adults seeking to honor him.

I believe the best opt out option…is to opt out of the system all together.

It’s so sad that, in these days, people don’t already recognize that they’re handing their child over to the gov’t when they drop them off at public school everyday.
I’ve just been reading The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised As Freedom by David Kupelian. The first chapter is all about that book about the homosexual agenda. They even explain how changing the word to “gay” makes us all think of them in a positive light. Also, the words “gay rights” were especially used to make them appear that they’ve been victimized.
    How the tide has turned.

    Stacy,

Thank you so much for putting this up – it is so important not to forget or loose sight of what is right in front of us (or down the street, as this case may be).

I thank God for the right to worship the one true God and homeschool. How merciful He is to continue to protect these freedoms. Praise His holy Name!

    grateful,
    Anne

“Also, the words “gay rights” were especially used to make them appear that they’ve been victimized”

That’s because many of them have been. Now, it’s the opposite.

I decided to check out the court document submitted as part of the Morrisons’ lawsuit against the county. (http://www.aclu.org/images/asset_upload_file466_24216.pdf)

The anti-harassment video in question was being presented as part of a larger diversity training seminar.

From the court memorandum: “After the video, students were given comment cards as well as the opportunity to ask questions. The training was, as contemplated by the Consent Decree, mandatory and the failure to attend would result in an unexcused absence.”

Also: “The record reveals that prior to the student training, the parents of several students, including the Plaintiffs, submitted “opt out” notices to the schools and their children, including student-Plaintiff, did not participate in the training. The record further shows that those students received an unexcused absence.”

And: “…following the video, students are given blank cards on which they are asked to comment on the training. The opportunity to speak with regard to the training, without parameters, and with no threat of punishment, belies Plaintiffs cry of chilling effect. Had the student-Plaintiff attended the training, he would have been given the chance to express his views. Indeed, one such comment card read: ‘I agree with the fact that no one should be harassed, but I am a Christian. I am a firm believer in Romans where it says that unnatural attraction is wrong. I would never harass a homosexual student. Although I do not approve at all of what they do. Homosexuality is a sin and that is my belief, but it is wrong to harass or bully anyone.’”

So, then, students were given the opportunity to comment. They could also opt out, the consequence of which was merely an unexcused absence.

That said, however, it’s good the Morrisons sued. The state can mandate that certain things not be said or done on public school property, but the interior lives (and respectfully stated opinions) of the students should be out of reach. So long as their son abided by the rules, he should have been excused from watching the video without facing any sort of penalty for it.

Nonetheless, I have a super hard time believing anyone ever told Mary Morrison that her boy literally belongs to the state for eight hours a day. The courts certainly don’t think so.
