Honoring Parents

James (as well as R.C. Sproul Jr.) was a guest on Moody Broadcasting’s Prime Time America yesterday. If you’re interested in listening to the recording of the broadcast, Part One can be found HERE.
“As children, most of us memorized the 10 Commandments, but as we get older, we sometimes have a hard time remembering what they are. This feature is the first of two parts that looks at what this commandment means for adult children.”
PART TWO focuses on honoring parents who are not Christians. It can be difficult for a Christian to know how to honor a parent who is abusive or who may be a harm to the grandchildren. A deeper study of God’s providence in our lives can be a huge help and comfort in understanding how and why we should honor our parents, regardless of whether or not they are always “honorable.”
Knowing there are many Christians who struggle deeply in this area, James shared his heart HERE, back in July, regarding his own struggle in this area.

Thank you for sharing this. I am looking forward to part two, as this is something my husband and I struggle with. Currently, the only way we know how to honor our parents is to pray for them. For the sake of our children, we feel we cannot have them in our everyday lives. This is very hard as a mother to not have anyone to go to for advise, help, or to just talk to that has “been there”. However it is a sacrifice we are willing to make for out children.
Blessings,
Amanda
