Whether you’re a brand new homeschooler or starting your tenth (plus) year, wouldn’t you like to kick off your school year with a morning of fun and fellowship and lots of great common sense suggestions for success? Join the ladies of Providence Church and be equipped and renewed…
Find out how you can use a variety of versatile and cost-effective teaching tools to add pizzazz to your homeschool day. Join homeschool veteran moms, Donna Krahn and Janice Price as they explore with you a plethora of teaching techniques using a handful of inexpensive items.
Homeschooling secrets – straight from the veterans. Come listen to our panel of moms with an impressive number of years of collective homeschooling experience. You’ll be madly taking notes as each shares their most amazing hints for a happy homeschool.
Panel includes:
- Jennifer Bateman (mother who’s homeschooled overseas)
- Jeanette Johnson (mother who’s homeschooled through high school and beyond)
- Katherine Sanford (mother to a large family blended from birth children and sibling groups adopted from the U.S., Russia, and the Philippines)
- Hope Ware (mother to four boys including a newborn)
Refreshments will be served.
When: Saturday, September 6th, 2008
9:30 am – 11:30 am
Where: The Christian Center (in the “down and under” room)
4100 N. Brandywine Dr.
This workshop will be geared toward homeschooling moms. Nursing babies are, of course, welcome. Older children may find the morning unappealing. Obviously, noisy and bored children will detract from the session’s profitability for other moms. You know your own child best; so, please plan accordingly.
There is no advance registration or fee but we would appreciate a quick email (priceless5@glastel.net) telling us you are coming so we can provide enough seating and snacks. Thank you!
Hosted by Heart 2 Heart, the women’s ministry of Providence Church in Peoria, Illinois

I’m going to try to come. This is a busy time of year for my husband, so I will most likely need to find a sitter.

Stacy,
This is off-topic but can you share how old you were when you had your last child?(you don’t have to answer but I’m in my 40′s with 7 children). I just ordered your housewives book and am excited to read it.
love from Canada, Christal
I wish I could come- could you post recordings of the talks or notes?
Sounds wonderful!
Please write about it if you can for the rest of us dying to peek in but travel not an option.
Heart of the Home blog.
Again, Stacy, another event I would love to attend but cannot due to Idaho being too far away for Illinois!! Sure wish I could, though. I know it will be an encouraging time for all.
Blessings,
Patti
I will definitely be there!
I found a good friend who would love to have my children over while I go. I’m so excited, this will be our first year home schooling. Now that the books and supplies are in, the house is organized( well almost!), I’m at the “now what?” stage.
God Bless,
Amanda L.
I’m a long way away but I wanted to say thanks for encouraging so many moms. We have been schooling for 12 years.
I’ll have to check on the taping. I’m not sure what the plan is on that. I acually won’t be able to be there, as I’ll be attending a homeschool leaders conference in New York that week. But I’ll be praying for y’all! I know it will be wonderful.
Hi Christal – I was 39! I have a friend who was 47 when she had her 10th baby – and it was her 7th reversal baby! I know many moms who are older and still bearing children. Then there are others whose bodies are done bearing in their 20′s or 30′s – God closes the womb early for whatever reason (or what seems early to us). You just never know.
Wow…this sounds like its going to be a great event! I have two children under 3 years old and am expecting a third in March. I am very strongly considering homeschool for their education and am always trying to find out more about it. Please do post updates on what happened after the event!
Dear Stacy,
I emailed you many moons ago from England, now we live on Long Island in NY. We see a desperate emptiness here, where it comes to understanding what a Biblical family looks like. In many ways we find ourselves alone, even among homeschoolers on Long Island. Yet, by the grace of God and His enabling, we have come to see quite clearly that the Lord sees the work of raising a family by His standard and in His way as paramount AND then… in concentric circles, our walk should bless the Church firstly, the community at large in keeping with our unique calling as a family. This calling must be under the headship of the father and enabled, equipped and helped by his perfectly designed help-meet as well as his quiver of children. I heard someone call the role of the wife and mother in such a setting as invisible. (They did not mean to be disparaging)
But, I would put it this way, that it is one of great visibility and extreme prominence but a lot like a country’s flag on a flag-pole in the Embassy grounds. The flag is very visible, yet it DOES NOT proclaims “Yeah look at me I am a great flag”, but rather it stands with dignity and boldly asserts the presence of that country and all the values and ethics of that country, in that foreign land. As wives we are to humbly pray for our husbands that they will be visionaries and emmisaries of the great high King, Jesus in this foreign land. And that we would stand boldly, for our husband’s in their Christian vision, be it visibly or invisibly (as some would call it).
That is my challenge, our challenge in this generation that is culturally driven, where we don’t even realize how empty and bankrupt our culture has become.
So, thank you for standing strong and being a beacon of hope, encouragement and exhortation to many of us.
I would LOVE to visit with you, if you have any time spare, during your visit to NY. We have a number of ideas that we are praying over as a couple, to bring some of this teaching to Long Island. We would love to have you come and stay with us, if you are able.
We are also looking at my husband’s holiday schedule to see if we can come to Peoria for the Reformation Day Fayre, October.
Please respond offline, if you are able to make it.
