Hate Crime or Thought Crime?
“So what kind of vicious, bloodthirsty “hate crime” did de Valk perpetrate that so offended the moral conscience of the CHRC?
Father defended the Church’s teaching on marriage during Canada’s same-sex ‘marriage’ debate, quoting extensively from the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and Pope John Paul II’s encyclicals. Each of these documents contains official Catholic teaching. And like millions of other people throughout the world and the ages – many of who are non-Catholics and non-Christians — Father believes that marriage is an exclusive union between a man and a woman.
Imagine that: this priest had the audacity to repeat his church’s teaching on marriage and human sexuality. This priest was so brutal that he apparently repeated God’s design for human sexuality and His divine definition of “marriage.”
So it seems that even teaching from the Bible may be considered a “hate crime” in “enlightened” Canada. With liberals in this country clamoring that the United States needs to be more like Canada and the socialist countries of Europe, can this be very far behind here?” Read the whole article HERE.
We need to be paying more attention. Thought provoking words from Father Hollywood:
While it has been some seventeen centuries since we have seen the mainstream of western civilization feeding Christians to lions, we are seeing rumblings of a repeat of history. “Hate crime” legislation, while sold as a form of compassion and a blow against violence, is in reality a form of “thought crime” and a means to undermine traditional civilization and natural law. It isn’t too far-fetched to see a time in the future when Roman Catholics (and other historical traditional expressions of the Christian faith) will find their treatment in Texas to mirror the treatment of the FLDS adherents, or that of their fellow-Catholics in Canada.
Of course, “faith groups” (who often shun the word “church”) that are more “open minded” about sexuality will escape persecution (and thus surrender the cross that is a mark of the Church). This fits in well with their non-committal form of theology and desire to make friends with the world, please everyone, and offend no-one. - Father Hollywood

And look what’s happening in England!
In February, the two men say they were told by a police community support officer that they were in a Muslim area and were, therefore, not allowed to spread their Christian message. They also were told they were committing a hate crime by telling the youths to leave Islam. The ministers also say the officer told them, “You have been warned. If you come back here and get beaten up, well you have been warned…”
“Obviously English law has no restrictions on Christian evangelization or Christian proselytization of any kind. But Islamic law forbids Christians to proselytize, especially among Muslims. So this is a de facto imposition of Islamic law in Britain…” Spencer contends.

I couldn’t get your link on the story in England to work. I’m very interested in this, as I have family who were planting a church in England, and spent a summer there myself on a short-term mission. Islam is spreading rapidly in Britain, and while this news saddens me, I can not say I am shocked. The suburb of London where we spent a good part of our time had a significant number of Muslims and I can only expect, reading news reports, that it continues to grow in influence. While Christian churches all over Britain are closing and losing members, Islam continues to grow. Prayers are certainly needed.

Yes, the trend is deeply disturbing. Humility, prayer, repentance, and a commitment to truly living out the Gospel – the REAL Gospel – is needed.
This should serve as a wake-up call to Christians. The mainstream, secular culture is not reasonable, moderate, and friendly to all views. Fundamentally, the same spiritual battle that has been raging throughout time is still raging today. We are ambassadors in hostile territory.
2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
The question is: Are we ready? Are we ready to bring glory to the Lord through whatever He has for us?
We are in Colorado and have just had a horrific bill passed here. Part of the bill states…
“SECTION 8. 24-34-701. Publishing of discriminative matter forbidden.
No person, being the owner, lessee, proprietor, manager, superintendent, agent, or employee of any place of public accommodation… shall publish, issue, circulate, send, distribute, give away, or display in any way, manner, or shape or by any means or method, except as provided in this section, any communication, paper, poster, folder, manuscript, book, pamphlet, writing, print, letter, notice, or advertisement of any kind, nature, or description THAT is intended or calculated to discriminate or actually discriminates against… SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status… in the matter of furnishing or neglecting or refusing to furnish to them or any one of them any lodging, housing, schooling, or tuition or any accommodation, right [marriage], privilege [adoption], advantage, or convenience… on account of… SEXUAL ORIENTATION, marital status… [which] is unwelcome or objectionable or not acceptable, desired, or solicited.”
In addition it is not longer legal to enforce male or female bathrooms – business owners must respect the “rights” of individuals to use whichever they choose.

As far as anyone in your country wanting to be like Canada…run screaming from the idea! Liberalism and secular humanism runs rampant here. I once saw a comment on this site (about the FLDS issue) wherein someone thought it was “fear mongering” to say that the government “is coming for your children”. This is coming closer to reality in Canada – not to mention that the government would be most happy to “own” our thoughts, as well.
Keep praying, ladies, for the hearts of our leaders; for the coming generations of Christians who will have so much more persecution to deal with than we do; for the strength of our fellow Christians who are dealing with the persecution now.
But remember, if the world hates us, they hated Christ first.
I worked as a missionary in England for 6 months in 2005/2006. What I found was that England is so concerned with being politically correct and not offend anyone that even the Church is very weak. It is mainly due to the vast influx of Muslims and Sikhs and the laws that have to be changed because of these kinds of people. It is very disheartening.

Whoa… are you telling me that it’s now illegal for a woman to be able to use the loo without a man in the stall next to her??? Ok, let me get this straight ~ the Feminists and Liberals harp on and on about the rape of women and yet they want MEN to be able to freely enter a female bathroom without anyone stopping him?? How is this going to be good for women?? How many women are going to be attacked by men “using their rights” to enter the same bathroom as a woman???? Oh my goodness… Not only is it disgusting to have to do private things with a man nearby but it’s dangerous too!!
Yes, CC – that is basically what the law says. A business can not discriminate against anyone based on sexual orientation including use of bathroom facilities, so if a man decides he wants to use the women’s bathroom for whatever reason, the store owner now has no legal right to kick him out!
Yes, it is a very dangerous precedent. All I can say is that we will be carrying a potty or will know the stores that have single use bathrooms with door locks if this starts happening.
Yes, I believe that persecution for believing in God’s laws and precepts still exists. It still happens each day of our lives. The Lord warned us that believers would be hated for His name sake, and hated we often are. I am living that right now, as I converted to Christianity last year. It has been a very painful expierence to lose friendships and be betrayed by loved ones. Yes, stacey — the Gospel – the True Gospel of Jesus Christ often times asks us to pay a great price. Are we willling to do so? True Christians can expect that following the lord is not an easy road or journey to walk. Many of us suffer quietly behind the scenes, but it is still happening today. But oh it is worth it , and we shoul rejoice to suffer for Christ’s sake!

It is fear-mongering to say that here in America, when the reason behind such a comment is simply that the government tried to remove children from sick parents and a brain-washing cult. However, I agree that Canada’s a different story. Isn’t prostitution legal there now? That’s Canada we-live-for-neutrality for you. Strangely, they’re not neutral towards any of their own residents who dare be other than liberal.

Is that still in Colorado, or has this mental illness spread by now? I heard that the people complaining and pushing for this were not feminists, but male transvestites and homosexuals who didn’t feel comfortable around normal men in male bathrooms. Can you BELIEVE these men?? And the people who legalized this? If these men don’t want to be beaten up by other men, maybe they shouldn’t dress like women! Why should real women have to suffer for their mental disorders, or worse, be put at risk for them? Ladies, do you know what I’m going to do if I ever come across a man in the ladies’ room who refuses to leave? I’m going to turn around and march into the men’s room instead. Then, if any men there object (as they would have every right to), I’ll explain that there’s a strange man in the ladies’ and maybe they could escort him out for me? Remember, ladies, the classic days when good men would take care of bad men in order to protect women?
I want chivalry back!
