Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Voddie Bauchum has a great review of the new documentary, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,” on his blog. This one sounds like a must see (even if we have to suffer through the music in the trailer! LOL)…

“I have been anxiously anticipating Ben Stein’s new movie, “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed.” I must say I was not disappointed. Stein takes on Darwinism in ways that are completely unexpected. He tackles issues like racism, eugenics, planned parenthood, Hitler, etc. The movie features intelligent, articulate spokesmen and exposes the blatant, irrational discrimination faced by those in academia who dare to question Darwinian Orthodoxy.”

Some of my family and I went to see it with some of the folk from our church. A must see! We are planning on buying at least two copies when it comes out on DVD. One for my parents and one for me when I get married.

I was going to ask if you had seen or heard of this movie. My husband and I just saw it this evening, it was *excellent*. A portion of the movie score was done by Andy Hunter, a Christian musician, and the whole thing was really well done – the production, shooting and editing. My husband and I have been talking about it all evening. Everyone should go see this!

I can’t wait to see this! I have great respect for Ben Stein that he dared to do this and because of his big name – its really getting out there!
Thank you also for pointing me to Voddie Baucham’s blog! I’ve liked his videos and really respect him as well.

I belong to an online forum made up of mothers of young children. On there, it was posted by another mother that the rating may not be appropriate. It is PG, but some were saying that is definitely NOT for anyone under the age of 13, and even then- some were saying it may not be good except for a mature teenager. Does anyone else know about this? What are your thoughts? (The reference on the forum was to the facts of the movie jumping back and forth and a younger child may not be able to follow who was “for” and who was “against”— and also to a reference of shooting oneself in the head???) I would like your opinion and input on this, as I have heard some friend talking about taking their children to see it with them. Thank You!

    Brandy,

My children (11 and 13) went with my husband and I to see the movie. They weren’t too sure about seeing a “documentary” thinking that it would be “boring”, but they both really enjoyed it. Bit, they are somewhat familiar with the issues in the debate since my blog focuses on them.

I didn’t really think there was anything in the movie that wasn’t appropriate for their ages. There were some pictures of holocaust victims, but it wasn’t anything they weren’t already familiar with.

I think teenagers *should* see the film. But, kids under 10 are probably a bit young to understand the issues.

I got to see this the first night. I found it very engaging. It is so refreshing to see a major film on this! And I love the way Mr. Stein did it, very well made.
