Soup’s On!

The other day, we were making a big pot of chicken soup when William began to beg to take a peek in the pot. “Unna see, unna see! Wi-yum hungy!” He said.

“Oh, you want to go in the soup?” Tiffany asked him.

William looked at her – a mischievous sparkle in his eye. “Yes!” he said. “Unt in the soup!”

Tiffany picked William up and gave him a peek inside. Carrots, onion, celery, tomatoes, herbs – all that was missing was Wi-yum!

She raised up his feet as if she was preparing to add him to the soup. “Who needs chicken when we have Wi-yum?” She asked.

Suddenly, William’s eyes widened. “No!” He squealed.

Tiffany stopped and looked at him, puzzled.

William cocked his head to one side and grabbed the front of his shirt. In a very rational tone, he said, “I have my clothes on.”

You may have noticed that I have disabled the comments on my blog. While I am very careful about the time I spend on the Internet and only post a couple of times a week, the Internet still seems to have a way of stealing precious time when we’re not careful.

Debates that seem oh-so-important can consume us and steal our focus – distract us from what really matters.

As of late, my attention has been too much on the blog world. Sometimes we spend way too much time on things that matter not – trying to explain things to people who have their fingers comfortably in their ears. So I’m taking a break.

In case you’re wondering, all the comments are still here, and eventually they’ll return – when I’m back. Blogger doesn’t allow me to disable new comments while leaving up the existing ones, so no comments are showing for now.

God has been revealing to me that real life relationships are so important. God has given us real families, real friends, brothers and sisters in real churches who need us. The backbiting and devouring that goes on in the blog world – indeed in Christendom – grieves my soul and I want no part of it.

So, if you need me, I’m here. If you have something nice to say, you can email me – just click on my profile. If you have something not-nice to say, click on “next blog.”

I’m still checking my email, but as per my beloved’s request, I won’t be visiting any blogs for a while. No, he’s not a big, bad patriarch – he’s a protective husband who loves his bride. Blessings to you and your families. And please don’t jump in the soup – I’m not!
