Reformation Day Faire – October 27th
Providence Church is hosting its first annual Reformation Day Faire and it’s just around the corner! Join us October 27th, 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. for a walk through history, authentic medieval feasting, sweet fellowship, a drama presentation, archery, sword (boffer) fighting, “Town Square” tours, a bonfire, and joyful Psalm singing! Costumes are optional. Come and go as you please. You’ll meet Martin Luther and Tetzel; but be careful, you’re in the midst of Reformers, and if you try to sell any indulgences, you just may wind up in the stocks…

If you plan to attend, please also plan to contribute to the medieval feast by bringing an “authentic” meal to share at our table. Although our focus this year is Martin Luther and the Reformation, please don’t feel limited to German cuisine.

I tried to volunteer to be the “official taste tester,” but nobody’s going for it. Ok, well yes, it’s a good excuse to go through the line first.
These photos were taken at our 2005 Reformation Day event back in our home state of Texas. Pastor McDonald of Providence Church (a.k.a. My Honey) contemplates the faithfulness and providence of God…
Hope to see you there!
“Now if such unbearable abuses are committed in the name of God and St. Peter, as if God’s name and spiritual authorities were instituted to blaspheme God’s honor and destroy the life and soul of Christendom, then we are certainly duty bound to offer appropriate resistance as far as we are able.“ [LW 44:90]

Sure wish Illinois wasn’t so far from Idaho. I would love to attend this event!!
Hi Mrs. McDonald!
That looks like so much fun! :-)
Amy and I are hoping to dress up as Scottish girls this Reformation Sunday (even if we’re the only ones!) but we can’t seem to find any plaid material! :-/ Oh well! :-)
Maybe when our church gets bigger we’ll have things like that too! :-)
Have a wonderful day!

We would love to come to yours Mrs. M, but we are having our own the week after. And Dad and I will be in Texas for the film festival. Did you know I have never been to Tx? Isn’t that sad? :) Darby
