Home Again!
It’s amazing. We made it home with everyone of our children -we didn’t forget a one. I think everyone has all their socks and I even remembered to sign the guest book. Caleb remembered to bring home his new belt, but apparently it was the belt of one of the Chancey boys because it’s too small. Virginia Grace forgot her new church shoes, but Jennie can throw those in a box along with the belt and the salad bag that I forgot in her fridge. All those things can be easily dealt with, but…
Horror of horrors, what did I forget???? MY COMPUTER!!!!!!!
It’s been so long since we’ve been parted for days at a time – what shall I do? You can pray for me. ;-) And if it takes me a while to answer your emails or do anything that takes my OWN computer, please be patient. It should be here by Wednesday.
In the meantime, I’m using a Mac. Macs are very strange computers indeed. It has the strangest symbols and nothing is where it should be – and I can’t even backspace. What’s up with that? And I can’t seem to get any page to fill the screen. Ah, tell me this is temporary. *heavy sigh* No offense to all of you creative and unique Mac users. You must be brilliant.

I desperately want to make a snarky Mac comment here, but then you’d just be overwhelmed with a Mac/PC thing, and that wouldn’t be good.
So, I’ll just say, “Welcome home!” and commiserate on misplacing your computer. I’m typing this from my laptop, where everything is coordinated just the way I like it, so I understand how it’s disorienting to switch to another computer.
(especially a Mac ;-) )
(Actually, I’ve described the Mac as being like a British car. Everything’s there; it’s just all in different places than you’re used to.)
I just knew I’d get a Mac user (and one from church no less!) commenting! I’ve heard about you Mac guys and how touchy you can be about your PCs. You DO call your computers PCs, right? Or do they have some new fangled name? :-)
Thanks for the welcome home. I’m sure James will tell you all about it on Sunday.
Seth:
I like the british car analogy. After having a mac and a PC I can relate to that and it’s a good description.
Stacy:
You came home will all the socks?
People like you make me sick. :)
Welcome home! I’ll see you all Sunday assuming my plane lands.
Stacy, you misunderstand. I’m *not* a Mac guy. I’m on the other side…. :-D
Hmmm, we have backspace, it is just called delete….for someone who grew up with Macs since the beginning and someone who cannot stand PC’s, I am at a loss at how to mourn with you! (by the way we do not call our computers PC’s)
Thank you for the pumpkin muffin recipe! I will hopefully be trying it soon! It is fall for sure here and on the brink of winter. Hope you get your computer back soon!
Mrs. McDonald, maybe this will help clear up the confusion (one commercial in a series by Apple [who makes Macs]): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQb_Q8WRL_g
:) It does take some adjusting.
I think I found your blog through Buried Treasure: I am so grateful for technology, and for people like you and Carmon who are willing to “broadcast” (modestly, an important qualifier :)) the real life of a committed Christian homemaker. Growing up in a worldly home and not having many around me now who are well-grounded in biblical principles, or available to be the Titus 2 sort of teachers, this is a blessing.
